This 1871-CC Seated Liberty Quarter has decent eye appeal and nice strike. Interesting and RARE coin. The surfaces of this coin suffer more from 'chamelion-like' toning than environmental damage. Reasonably wholesome coin not withstanding the label. Certified: PCGS VG Details

The obverse of the Seated Liberty quarter was designed by U.S. Mint engraver Christian Gobrecht and first minted in 1838. It features Lady Liberty sitting on a rock, looking over her right shoulder. With her left hand, she holds a pole with a Phrygian or freedom cap, while her right hand steadies a shield inscribed with the word “LIBERTY” on a scroll. The reverse design of the Seated Liberty quarter features a Heraldic Eagle grasping three arrows and an olive branch. Several variations of the series occurred, including adding drapery to the elbow of Liberty. The rays were removed from around the eagle and replaced with a banner that reads, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Seated Liberty quarter values vary by date, mint mark, and condition.
